Independence USA PAC Endorses Val Demings for Congress – TV Ads to Begin On Wednesday
Former Orlando Police Chief wins support for bold leadership from group founded by former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg
Wednesday, August 10, 2016 | Independence USA PAC today announced its endorsement of Democrat Val Demings, the former Orlando Chief of Police who is running for Congress in Florida’s 10th Congressional district. Independence USA also unveiled a TV ad in support of Demings, which will begin airing on broadcast stations in Orlando today.
Independence USA PAC was created by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to support candidates of both parties who are putting real results above partisanship and leading from the center. In an era of increased polarization, no other PAC in the nation will spend as much to support candidates from both parties this election cycle. Demings is the first House candidate and the first Floridian to win support from Independence USA in 2016, though Independence USA also supported Demings’ previous run for Congress in 2012.
“Few people in America have done more to fight gun violence than Val Demings. She will be a powerful leader in Congress on day one to pass sensible laws to protect all Americans from illegal guns,” said former New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, the leading political independent in the United States.
